2010 is almost upon us, and that usually means that we start talking about the games we can’t wait to play. So, without stalling, I present to you XDAO’s picks for the top 25 games to look out for in 2010.03) Bioshock 2

Bioshock might be the most well received new IP this generation. After being awarded game of the year from almost every direction in 2007, the hype machine has been building since the announcement of Bioshock 2. In Bioshock 2, you take the role of the first Big Daddy, and can finally explore beyond the city of Rapture. There will be new plasmids and new enemies in the form of “Big Sisters”. While the game is still building up hype, some are a little weary of just how good Bioshock 2 can be. A multiplayer mode has been announced, which just like Dead Space, seems completely against the atmosphere and pacing that Bioshock offered. Bioshock wasn’t about run and gun action; it was more about the adventure you were taking place in. All new trailers and announcements seem to be pointing at a more action heavy experience, and if this is the case… I expect Bioshock 2 to end up on the “Biggest Disappointments of 2010″ lists, rather than “Game of the Year” ones. Regardless, the game still looks great, and let’s hope that it sticks to what it did best the first time around.

While Playstation 3 owners saw a bunch of top tier games released last year, they are still missing that definitive title that can give them bragging rights. God of War 3 should be that game, and Sony is doing the best it can to hype it up as a powerful system seller. God of War 3 looks as brutal as the series has ever been, and has already shown off a bunch of new weapon and combat tactics. With a long development cycle, it seems almost impossible for this game to fail or disappoint. If there is any concern, it should only be that it will be too similar to its predecessors, much like God of War 2 was to the first. Hopefully God of War 3 will bring new life to the series and give Sony a competitive boost the rest of the generation.

What is there to say about Final Fantasy XIII? Some can argue that its place on the top of the list is questionable, since the RPG genre is a bit more niche than most others. I see this as irrelevant. Now that FFXIII is no longer a PS3 exclusive, I expect the sales potential to go through the roof, enough so to possibly be the top selling title of 2010. Final Fantasy XIII has come a long way since it was first shown and benefits from over three years of hype. Early reports have come in saying that the game is a bit linear, and that there is no towns at all. This seem to better the pace, however, and seems like one of those things that you really need to play on your own to judge. Even if you have only a slight interest in RPG’s, there is no doubt FFXIII is near the top of your list for 2010 games.

the beggining of the final fantasy trailer thats on that link reminded me right away of final fantasy x did it for anybody else? Final fantasy XIII is my most anticipated and waited for game for years i cant wait
Wow, i really didnt think of the #2 and 1 games because i never really heard of them, to be honest i didnt hear of half of the 25, but thats cause i mainly stick to cod and halo and gow, but great job on all the reviews Awesome, i know you put alot of time into them and i thank you for that, i think that more people should start to show some more appreciation for all your hard work.
Yea Trace. Im a big fan of Final Fantasy. I fell in love with it a long time ago, and I am so happy its coming out for XBOX!!! PS3 is dying as predicted… :/
Silo – since the price drop to $300, the PS3 is actually outselling the 360, and almost matched it for total year sales. It’s not dying at all. Don’t be surprised if it catches Microsoft’s total sales by the end of this year.
Great picks for the top 3 final fantasy 13 is a great game I got a buddy that imported the game and I was watching him play and he told me a little bit about it and it seems like they did a great job with it. Only thing I dont like is the battle system but it is growing on me just something you got to get use to
Also anyone who is going to get FF14 next year hit me up they are having a beta for it right now and its great for what stage it is in.
